Newly appointed Marumo Gallants head coach Filemon Ronny Kanalelo says supporters can expect to see a different side when his team takes on defending Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates on Sunday.

Kanalelo, who has just taken charge of the struggling Gallants, says he is bringing fresh energy and a new spirit to the team ahead of his first match.

“There’s energy and spirit that I’m bringing into this game,” Kanalelo said, as he prepares for his first assignment against Orlando Pirates.

The Namibian coach also pointed out that he has never lost to Orlando Pirates before, adding another interesting angle to Sunday’s encounter.

Marumo Gallants currently sit at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table with two points from six matches and remain without a win. Orlando Pirates, meanwhile, have made an unbeaten start to the campaign and are among the teams at the top of the standings.

Kanalelo joined Gallants after leaving African Stars, whom he recently guided into the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. African Stars will face Orlando Pirates in the next round of the competition on 17 October in Botswana.

His first match in charge of Gallants will therefore come against a familiar opponent when the two sides meet on Sunday, 20 September 2026.
