Prime Minister Orders NSFAF to Complete Student Payments by End of July

Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has directed the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) to ensure that all outstanding student allowances and loans are paid by the end of July 2026 following an unannounced oversight visit to the institution.
The visit formed part of the Prime Minister’s efforts to monitor the progress of payment processing and ensure that students and institutions of higher learning receive the financial support they have been waiting for without further delays.
During the visit, NSFAF Chief Accountant Ms. Eveline Anghuwo informed the Prime Minister that the finance team is currently processing payments for an average of 1,615 students per day as part of efforts to eliminate the existing backlog.
She said eligible continuing students will receive full back-pay for non-tuition allowances covering the period from April to July 2026, amounting to N$9,600 per student.
Anghuwo further explained that payments for first-year and newly admitted students will begin once institutions of higher learning submit invoices confirming students’ registration and enrolment.
Prime Minister Ngurare stressed that administrative or technical processes must not delay the rollout of financial assistance. He instructed NSFAF officials to maintain the current pace of processing and ensure that all eligible students receive their outstanding payments by the end of July 2026.
NSFAF expressed confidence that the requested funding allocation will enable the institution to settle the outstanding allowances and loans within the timeframe set by the Prime Minister.
