
The Namibian Police are probing a fatal road accident that claimed four lives at Efidi village on Saturday. The incident is being investigated as a case of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.
According to Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mbuuru, the crash involved a white Toyota Legend 45 and a grey Toyota Corolla. Preliminary reports suggest the Toyota Legend 45 was travelling west to east when it collided head-on with the oncoming Corolla.
The Toyota Legend 45 was carrying three occupants, including the driver, while the Toyota Corolla had five individuals on board. Four people were declared dead at the scene, and four others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Mbuuru confirmed that the deceased’s remains have been taken to the Eenhana State Hospital mortuary. Efforts are underway to notify the next of kin.
The police investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
