Health Ministry to Recruit Over 2,000 Workers Nationwide

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has launched a large-scale recruitment campaign aimed at strengthening the country’s health workforce and reducing congestion in medical facilities.
The initiative, made possible through internal savings, prudent financial management, and targeted budget reallocations in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the National Planning Commission, will bring 1,713 clinical and 337 non-clinical professionals into the public health sector.
According to the Executive Director, the recruitment represents a renewed commitment to improving service delivery. “This investment reflects our dedication to quality health care. The health workforce is our most valuable asset, and expanding it is key to ensuring better services for our people,” he said.
Priority will be given to national referral hospitals and regional health facilities where shortages are most critical. To accelerate the hiring process, the Ministry has adopted fast-track measures such as mass advertisements and shortened application periods.
Dr. Luvindao noted that although the new intake will not resolve all staffing gaps, it marks an important step forward. “We recognise that these recruitments will not meet all our needs, but this is a good start,” he said.
The Ministry is calling on all qualified, unemployed health professionals to apply and support efforts to build a stronger, more responsive health system.
