Concerns have been raised over the handling of hospital laundry between Oshakati and Onandjokwe

Questions are being asked about the movement of hospital linen between Oshakati Intermediate Hospital and Onandjokwe Hospital, following strong criticism from Affirmative Repositioning (AR) leader Job Amupanda.
Amupanda has called on the management of Oshakati Intermediate Hospital to immediately discontinue the practice of transporting washed hospital clothes and blankets to Onandjokwe for drying, describing it as unnecessary and improper.
He alleged that the arrangement has been in place for many years and is being used to justify claims for subsistence, travel and overtime allowances. According to Amupanda, this amounts to an abuse of state resources for personal gain.
The AR leader argued that Oshakati Intermediate Hospital has sufficient space to install drying lines for hospital linen, making the transportation to another facility unjustifiable.
“There is enough space at Oshakati Hospital to dry these clothes and blankets. There is absolutely no operational reason to take them to Onandjokwe,” he said.
Amupanda warned that continuing the practice could be seen as ongoing misuse of public funds and urged the Ministry of Health and Social Services to investigate the matter and ensure accountability where wrongdoing is found.
