Kavango East Tops NSSCO Rankings as Rukonga Vision School Produces National Top Performers

Academic excellence has taken centre stage following the release of the official list of the top-performing Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) full-time candidates, with learners from Kavango East, Omusati, Oshikoto and Khomas regions dominating the national rankings.
According to list released by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Marian Kweyo, a female learner from Rukonga Vision School in Divundu, Kavango East, secured first position nationally after achieving outstanding results in six subjects. She was closely followed by her schoolmate, Dacrus Manuel, who claimed second position, marking a remarkable achievement for both the school and the region.
The strong performance by Rukonga Vision School has been widely praised, as it produced the top two candidates nationwide, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence and quality teaching.
The Omusati region also recorded impressive results, with Emilia Nghipandulwa and Delly Limbo, both from Onawa Senior Secondary School, securing third and fourth positions respectively. Another Onawa SSS learner, Hileni Kapolo, further strengthened the region’s presence by attaining seventh position nationally, underlining the school’s consistent academic performance.
Oshikoto region was equally well represented, with Johannes Nandjigua of Oshigambo High School taking fifth place, followed by Knowledge Kambonde from Reverend Juuso Shikongo Secondary School in sixth position. Oshigambo High School also featured again in the top ten through Gottlieb Mulenga, who secured tenth position.
The Khomas region made its mark through Windhoek High School, with Lené Cloete and Anita De Waal achieving eighth and ninth positions respectively, reinforcing the school’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the results, noting that the diverse regional representation among the top candidates reflects gradual improvements in education standards across the country. Officials said the performance demonstrates that learners from both urban and rural schools are capable of competing at the highest national level when provided with the necessary support and resources.
The Ministry of Education congratulated all the top achievers, their teachers, parents and school management teams for their dedication and hard work. The ministry further encouraged learners nationwide to draw inspiration from this year’s results and remain focused on their academic goals.
As Namibia continues to invest in education reform and learner development, the achievements of the 2025 NSSCO top performers stand as a strong indicator of the country’s growing academic potential and a source of pride for their respective schools and regions.
