Mbangu Pledges More Development and Stands Firm Against Kavango Water Transfer to Windhoek

Independent candidate for the Rundu Rural Constituency, Paulus Nginga Mbangu, has assured residents that he will continue delivering exceptional service if re-elected. Addressing supporters during his campaign rally in Mayana, Mbangu said he had visited all areas within the constituency before the event to assess community needs and hear directly from the people.
According to Mbangu, residents across the constituency expressed satisfaction with the progress made during his five years in office since he assumed leadership in 2020.
“We independent candidates do not have a boss. You are our bosses, and we listen to you. We act according to your needs,” Mbangu told the crowd.
Supporters who attended the rally praised his leadership, saying that under his tenure many communities received essential services such as water, electricity, and food assistance, services they claim were not provided in the past 30 years.
If re-elected, Mbangu vowed to prioritise vulnerable groups by building toilets for people with disabilities in every household, followed by support for the elderly.

On the issue of water, Mbangu strongly opposed proposals to transfer water from the Kavango River to Windhoek, saying such plans would deplete the river and harm aquatic life. He added that no water should leave the region “unless every household in Kavango has access to a water tap first.”
Mbangu is expected to face competition from his uncle, Lucas Mbangu, in the upcoming regional elections. Despite the family rivalry, he expressed confidence that he will secure an easy win.
