Newly Elected Councillors Urged to Serve with Integrity and Meet Public Expectations

As Namibia welcomes the results of the 2025 Regional Council and Local Authority Elections, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah reminded newly elected councillors that their mandate comes with serious responsibilities to the people who voted for them.
“The nation will evaluate all of us according to the work we do and the results we deliver,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah said, urging councillors to serve with “humility, integrity and a clear commitment to improving the lives of the people who have placed their trust in you.”
The President highlighted that citizens are watching closely, noting that democracy is strengthened not only through elections but through consistent and accountable service delivery. “Development is a shared responsibility, and progress is possible when every hand contributes to the same goal,” she said, emphasizing that communities expect tangible improvements in public services, economic opportunities, and local governance.
While praising Namibians for their peaceful participation during the elections, she reminded leaders that leadership extends beyond campaigns. “Your collective efforts helped safeguard peace. Let us remain united, let us remain peaceful, and let us continue strengthening the stability that has guided our nation for decades,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
The message comes as Namibia enters the implementation phase of the National Development Plan Six, a roadmap for economic recovery, youth empowerment, food security, industrialisation, and stronger communities. Citizens now look to their local leaders to translate these national priorities into real results at the local level.
