The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has announced a large-scale recruitment campaign aimed at strengthening the Namibian Police Force, with plans to enlist 2,000 officers during the current financial year.

According to the official advertisement issued by the Department of Police, 1,000 positions have been allocated to members of the general public under the rank of Cadet Constable. Successful candidates will undergo basic police training before being permanently appointed upon completion.

During training, recruits will receive a monthly stipend of N$7,514.25. After training, appointed officers will earn an annual salary starting from N$90,171, with progression up to N$109,428 under the probationary scale, along with applicable service benefits.

The recruitment process is guided by Section 4 of the Police Act, 1990 (Act No. 19 of 1990), as amended. Recruits will be tasked with key responsibilities including maintaining law and order, safeguarding internal security, investigating crimes, preventing criminal activities, and protecting lives and property.

Applicants must meet strict entry requirements, including Namibian citizenship, an age range between 18 and 35 years, and a minimum qualification of Grade 11 or Grade 12 with at least 25 points across six subjects, including an “E” symbol or better in English. Candidates must also be medically fit, have no criminal record or pending cases, and be willing to undergo physical, written, and medical assessments.

In addition, applicants are required to submit certified copies of identification documents, proof of residence, and relevant qualifications, along with completed official application forms available at government offices and police stations nationwide.

The Ministry emphasized that incomplete applications or failure to disclose medical conditions will result in automatic disqualification. Applicants are also limited to submitting one application in a region of their choice.

The closing date for applications is set for 13 May 2026, with only shortlisted candidates to be contacted.
