The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested two people in connection with alleged corrupt activities related to the Association of Local Authorities in Namibia (ALAN) Congress that took place in Katima Mulilo in November 2013.

The suspects, identified as Mathilde Elizabeth Isaaks and Anton Willem Coleman, were arrested in Keetmanshoop on Thursday and made their first court appearance the same day. The matter is registered under case number KMH-CRM-583/2026, and both suspects were informed of their right to legal representation.

Coleman was released on bail of N$1,000 and is expected to return to court on 8 April 2026 at 08:30. Isaaks was released on warning and is also scheduled to appear on the same date and time. A warrant of arrest will be issued should she fail to attend court.

According to the ACC, the case centres on alleged irregular claims for subsistence and travel allowances. Investigators allege that the suspects travelled outside the official dates of the Congress, claimed allowances for periods exceeding their actual attendance, and made false or misleading statements during the investigation.

The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions, stressing that corruption weakens good governance and hampers effective service delivery.
