Elderly Contractor Seeks Government Help Over N$4.5 Million Unpaid Construction Work

An 81-year-old Rundu resident says he is still owed more than N$4.5 million for construction work allegedly carried out on a government office project that was later abandoned.
Amos Nakare David claims his company, Oume Constructions, was contracted in 2013 to build offices for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform in Rundu. According to David, construction began the same year after the company secured the contract.
However, he alleges that payments from the ministry later stopped, causing the project to stall. After a prolonged period of delays, the construction of the offices was eventually cancelled before completion.
David says the outstanding amount he is claiming covers work already completed as well as building materials that were purchased and used before the project came to a halt.
The elderly contractor is now appealing for urgent government intervention, saying he has exhausted all possible avenues to recover the money. He further claims to have documentation to support his demand for payment.
The office project in Rundu has since remained unfinished following its cancellation.
