NAMPOL Receives High-Tech Surveillance Equipment and Bicycles to Boost Operations

The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) on Tuesday received a range of modern electronic devices aimed at strengthening policing operations and improving service delivery across the country.
The equipment was donated by Atlantic West Africa Technologies (AWAT), a technology-driven company, and includes police body lights, body-worn cameras, vehicle dash cameras, and vehicle tracking devices. The donation is expected to enhance officer safety, promote accountability, and improve the collection and preservation of evidence during police operations.
In addition to the equipment, AWAT has committed to providing free training to police officers to ensure the effective and sustainable use of the technology.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, Joseph Shikongo, expressed his appreciation to AWAT, describing the donation as a significant contribution to modern policing. He noted that the support reflects a strong sense of corporate social responsibility and a shared commitment to national development and public safety.
On the same day, further support for NAMPOL was received from J&P Hydraulics in Walvis Bay. The company, represented by Mr. Tom Scwemmer, handed over bicycles to assist police officers operating in the Khomas Region. The bicycles are expected to improve mobility for officers, particularly in urban areas where quick and flexible movement is required.

NAMPOL said the donations are in line with its strategic objectives of modernising law enforcement practices, embracing technology-driven policing, and enhancing professionalism and excellence in service delivery.
Police management welcomed the partnerships, noting that collaboration with the private sector plays an important role in strengthening crime prevention efforts and improving the safety of communities nationwide.
