Swapo Women’s Council Launches Tailoring Training to Boost Skills in Khomas

The Swapo Party Women’s Council has announced the launch of a new tailoring training programme aimed at strengthening skills development and economic empowerment in the Khomas Region.
The initiative, introduced in partnership with various stakeholders, is designed to provide practical training in tailoring while also equipping participants with entrepreneurial knowledge. Organisers say the programme is intended to help beneficiaries become self-reliant and create sustainable income-generating opportunities.
According to the council, the training will not only focus on garment-making skills but will also incorporate elements of small business management to prepare participants for the competitive market environment. The broader goal is to encourage community upliftment by enabling trainees to start their own businesses and potentially employ others.
The first intake is scheduled to begin in the first week of April, with 60 trainees expected to participate. The programme will be open to both women and men, reflecting an inclusive approach to community development in the region.
Organisers have expressed optimism that the initiative will contribute meaningfully to addressing unemployment and improving livelihoods within Khomas.
