NEFD’s Top Four Suffer Early Exit

The North East First Division (NEFD) has suffered a major setback in the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup after all four of its top-ranked teams failed to progress to the quarter-final stage, with the competition now moving towards the round of 32 qualification phase.
League champions KK United, runners-up Ohangwena Nampol FC, third-placed Black Hawks FC, and Cuca Tops FC were all eliminated in a dramatic set of fixtures played at Rundu Sport Stadium.
Black Hawks FC were the first major casualty, falling 3-1 to UNAM in a match where the university side showed superior finishing. Ohangwena Nampol FC also exited after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Ntunguru in a tightly contested encounter.
Cuca Tops FC were eliminated in heartbreaking fashion after a 1-1 draw with Chief Santos, before losing 3-2 on penalties. KK United’s disappointing cup run ended with a 3-2 defeat to Further Fighters in one of the day’s most entertaining fixtures.
Elsewhere, Eastern Chiefs were also knocked out after a 0-0 draw with Kangweru Black Tops, who advanced with a dominant 4-1 win in the penalty shootout.
The results confirm that all NEFD top four teams have failed to reach the quarter-finals, shifting the focus of the competition as remaining sides now battle for progression into the round of 32.
