Copper Town Girls FA Launches Sanitary Pad Donation Initiative to Support Vulnerable Girls

Copper Town Girls Football Academy (FA) has launched a Sanitary Pad Donation Project in support the well-being of young girls in Tsumeb.
The initiative forms part of the academy’s broader commitment to empowering girls both on and off the football field. Through the project, the academy seeks to provide sanitary pads and essential hygiene products to vulnerable school-going girls who often face challenges in accessing menstrual health supplies.
According to the academy, many girls miss school or struggle to participate fully in educational and sporting activities due to a lack of sanitary products. The project aims to help address this challenge by ensuring that girls have access to the resources they need to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence.
“Through my work with young girls, I have witnessed many learners struggling to attend school consistently because they lack basic necessities such as sanitary pads, hygiene products, school stationery, and adequate food. These challenges have become increasingly visible as many families continue to face economic hardship.” Founder and Head coach of Copper Town Girls Football Academy, Benson Kambombo said.
The first phase of the programme is expected to benefit more than 100 girls, including academy members and learners from selected schools in Tsumeb.

Donated sanitary pads will be distributed directly to beneficiaries, shared during community outreach programmes, and supplied to schools to assist girls in need. The initiative will also incorporate menstrual hygiene awareness and educational activities where possible.
Benson Kambombo, said the project reflects the academy’s belief that every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and participate fully in society without barriers.
“We believe that no girl should miss school or sporting activities because she cannot afford sanitary products. Through this initiative, we want to restore dignity, build confidence and ensure that girls can continue pursuing their education and dreams without interruption,” said Kambombo.

The academy has invited sponsors, partners, businesses and community members to support the campaign through donations of sanitary pads and related hygiene products.
Copper Town Girls FA has also committed to ensuring transparency throughout the project, with all donations properly recorded and distributed to intended beneficiaries. Donors and partners will receive updates on the impact of their contributions.
Individuals, businesses, and well-wishers who would like to support the development of young female footballers at Copper Town Girls Football Academy are encouraged to make donations of any amount.
