Bafana Bafana Fight Back to Secure Valuable Point Against Czech Republic

South Africa produced a strong second-half performance to earn a 1–1 draw against Czech Republic, with Teboho Mokoena converting from the penalty spot to rescue a point after a much-improved display following the break.
The Czech Republic started the match brightly and took the lead in the 6th minute when Michal Sadílek finished a quick attacking move involving Alexandr Sojka. The early goal gave the Europeans confidence as they controlled the opening stages.
South Africa responded with gradual improvements in midfield through Teboho Mokoena and Thalente Mbatha, but the Czech side held their shape well to protect their advantage going into half-time.
After the break, however, South Africa took full control of the match. Their pressing intensity increased significantly, with Relebohile Mofokeng and Jayden Adams adding energy and creativity in advanced areas. The Czech Republic were pushed deeper as they struggled to contain wave after wave of South African attacks.
Despite a series of substitutions from both teams, including the introduction of Evidence Makgopa and Iqraam Rayners, South Africa continued to dominate possession and territory throughout the second half.
Their pressure finally paid off in the 83rd minute when they were awarded a penalty. Mokoena stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to level the match at 1–1.
The closing stages saw both sides attempt to find a winner, but South Africa’s dominance after the interval ensured they left the pitch with a deserved draw, while Czech Republic were forced to settle after failing to hold onto their early lead.
