Durban City have parted ways with head coach Khalil Ben Youssef, ending the Tunisian coach’s spell at the club with immediate effect.

The decision reportedly came on Saturday, just hours after Ben Youssef had taken part in the team’s morning training session. The sudden development also reportedly caught some members of the squad by surprise.

Ben Youssef joined Durban City after his departure from Kaizer Chiefs and was handed the responsibility of guiding the club through a demanding 2026/27 campaign.

Under his leadership, Durban City reached the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup after successfully negotiating their opening tie.

However, their domestic campaign has produced mixed results. The club had collected seven points from seven league matches and were sitting 10th on the table at the time of his departure.

Ben Youssef leaves the club after only a few months in charge, with Durban City now expected to consider their options for a replacement as the season continues.

The coach is reportedly set to remain in South Africa for the time being and is not actively rushing into another job, although he could consider a suitable opportunity if one becomes available.
