Tshwane Authorities Shut Down Ipi Ntombi Sports Bar Over Alleged Illegal Activities

City of Tshwane officials have closed Ipi Ntombi Sports Bar following allegations that the establishment was engaged in unlawful activities. Executive Mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya personally oversaw the closure, highlighting regulatory breaches during a public inspection.
According to officials, the bar was reportedly operating as more than just a sports venue. During the raid, authorities discovered 41 rooms within the building, which were allegedly used for sex work. Price lists for services were reportedly displayed in the rooms, and cash was found hidden under some beds. Young women reportedly paid fees to the establishment to operate in the rooms.
The closure comes amid multiple alleged violations, including running a brothel under a liquor license, lacking essential safety and compliance certificates, and carrying out structural extensions without municipal approval. The authorities emphasized that these infractions pose serious risks to public health and safety.
In a video circulated online, Mayor Moya read out the list of services allegedly offered at the bar, bringing attention to the scale of the operation. She reiterated the city’s commitment to enforcing municipal by-laws and ensuring that establishments comply with all legal and safety requirements before reopening.
The Ipi Ntombi Sports Bar will remain closed until full compliance with all regulations is verified. Officials have vowed to continue cracking down on illegal operations to protect residents and uphold the law.
