Rundu Rangers FC have secured promotion to the North Eastern First Division (NEFD) after defeating Young Western Fighters FC 3-1 in a thrilling encounter.
Young Western Fighters FC started the match strongly, taking an early lead in the opening minutes. However, Rundu Rangers FC showed great character and fought back as the game progressed, with the teams heading into halftime level at 1-1.
After the break, the Rundu-based side raised their performance and scored two more goals to complete a 3-1 comeback victory, sealing their place in the NEFD.
Rundu Rangers FC’s remarkable journey continues after spending one season in the Third Division and one season in the Second Division before earning promotion to the First Division.
The Rangers finished second on the promotion playoffs table with 9 points, behind Zambezi-based Bush Bucks FC, who topped the standings and also secured promotion.
Meanwhile, Young Western Fighters FC missed out on promotion after having the opportunity to qualify with either a draw or a win. Their defeat saw them finish third on the table with 7 points.
