Chinese President Invites President Nandi-Ndaitwah for Four-Day State Visit

President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has extended an official invitation to President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia for a State Visit to China scheduled from 6 to 10 July 2026, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing shared development priorities.
The visit will take place under the theme “Strong Friendship. Shared Future,” reflecting the commitment of both nations to strengthen the Namibia–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership for sustainable development and long-term prosperity.
According to the programme, President Nandi-Ndaitwah will engage in high-level discussions with President Xi Jinping, the Premier of the State Council, and other senior Chinese leaders. The talks are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, industrialisation and beneficiation, renewable energy and green hydrogen, agriculture and agro-processing, education, science and technology, health, housing, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges.
The President’s itinerary includes official visits across key Chinese economic hubs, including Guangdong Province, Shenzhen, Sichuan Province, and Beijing. These engagements will feature site visits to leading manufacturing facilities, innovation centres, and strategic enterprises, providing opportunities to strengthen technical cooperation and attract investment.
A major highlight of the visit will be the Namibia–China High-Level Trade and Investment Conference, which will bring together government officials and business leaders from both countries to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen commercial ties. The programme will also include targeted business-to-business engagements and exhibitions showcasing Namibian products and investment potential.
As part of the visit’s academic and cultural dimension, President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to receive an honorary doctorate from the China University of Geosciences, in recognition of her leadership and contribution to international cooperation and development.
The itinerary begins on 6 July in Guangzhou, followed by engagements in Shenzhen on 7 July, Chengdu on 8 July, and concluding activities in Beijing from 9 to 10 July 2026. Key visits include industrial and innovation sites such as Huawei headquarters and the CGN Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, alongside agricultural and agro-processing facilities in Chengdu.
The Presidency noted that the visit underscores a strategic shift in cooperation, moving beyond traditional resource-based trade towards a broader partnership centred on industrialisation, value addition, technology transfer, energy security, job creation, and economic transformation.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to be accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials and business representatives. The visit is anticipated to further consolidate strong diplomatic relations while unlocking new avenues for investment, innovation, and sustainable development between Namibia and China.
