Rehoboth Drug Accused Granted N$10,000 Bail

Rehoboth Magistrate Wilka Amalwa has granted bail of N$10,000 to Naomi Fisch, who is facing charges related to drug dealing and money laundering.
In her ruling at the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court, Amalwa ordered Fisch not to interfere with ongoing police investigations and prohibited her from leaving the Rehoboth district without written approval from the investigating officer.
Although bail was approved, the magistrate stressed that it is not an automatic right. She noted that the State had presented a strong case and sufficient evidence linking Fisch to the alleged offences.
Amalwa further emphasised the seriousness of the charges, describing drug-related crimes and money laundering as issues that deeply affect the community. She remarked that drugs are causing harm not only in Rehoboth but across the country.
The magistrate also pointed to the large turnout of community members during the bail hearing, saying it reflected public concern and the need for justice to be visibly upheld.
At the same time, she cautioned against keeping an accused person in custody for extended periods before trial, stating that prolonged detention could amount to punishment before a court has reached a final verdict.
