Three Inmates Allegedly Escape from Rundu Holding Cells in Broad Daylight

Three inmates Allegedly escaped from police holding cells in Rundu on Sunday in what is believed to have been a carefully planned incident that took place during the day.
Information from reliable sources indicates that the escape happened while police officers were busy dealing with other detainees at the front desk. The detainees were reportedly protesting after they were denied visitation rights, which created a distraction for the officers on duty.
While the officers’ attention was focused on the disturbance, the three inmates allegedly began damaging the holding cell. They are said to have bent and broken burglar bars and then hammered through part of the wall, creating an opening large enough for them to escape.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security at the holding facility, especially as it occurred in broad daylight.
By the time of publishing, the police had not issued an official statement despite repeated efforts to get confirmation by the source. However, source said senior police officers, who asked not to be named, confirmed that the escape did take place. It is not yet clear how far the inmates managed to flee or whether they have since been rearrested. Investigations into the matter are expected to continue.
