Namibian youth groups have voiced strong support for Zambian youth advocate and Pan-Africanist Joseph Kalimbwe, who has officially paid his nomination fees to contest a parliamentary seat in Zambia’s Dag Hammarskjöld Constituency in Ndola ahead of the country’s general elections scheduled for 13 August 2026.

Kalimbwe’s candidacy has sparked cross-border conversations among young people in Southern Africa, with many describing his move into formal politics as a continuation of his long-standing youth leadership and Pan-African advocacy.

In Namibia, several youth voices have taken to social media calling on Zambian young voters to support leaders they believe represent a new generation of political thinking and regional unity. The discussions have particularly highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping governance across Africa.

One of the prominent reactions came from AR president Job Amupanda, who posted a brief message of support saying:
“Joseph Kalimbwe, the Pan African and leader of our people 🙌🏿💪🏿🫂”

Kalimbwe is not new to youth leadership circles in the region. He previously made his mark in student leadership when he served as President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Namibia in 2017, where he was known for his outspoken stance on student welfare and Pan-African issues.

His current political step in Zambia is being closely watched by youth movements across the region, with supporters framing it as part of a broader push for younger leaders to take up parliamentary roles and reshape national decision-making structures.
