Cristiano Ronaldo makes World Cup history with record-breaking brace as Portugal crush Uzbekistan

Portugal produced a dominant FIFA World Cup Group K performance as they defeated Uzbekistan 5–0, but the night belonged to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a brace and made history by becoming the first player ever to score in six different World Cup tournaments.
The Portuguese captain opened the scoring in the 6th minute, finishing a well-worked move involving João Cancelo to give Portugal an early 1–0 lead. That goal immediately set the tone for a one-sided contest as Uzbekistan struggled to cope with Portugal’s intensity and movement.
Portugal doubled their advantage in the 17th minute through Nuno Mendes, who found space in the attacking third and finished clinically to extend the lead to 2–0. The European side continued to control possession and dictate the tempo throughout the first half.
Just before the break, Ronaldo struck again. In the 39th minute, he combined with Bruno Fernandes to score his second goal of the match, making it 3–0 and further cementing his place in World Cup history as the only player to score in six different editions of the tournament.
The second half saw multiple substitutions from both sides, with Portugal introducing players such as Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leão, and João Neves to maintain control and freshness in attack.
Portugal added a fourth goal in the 60th minute when Abduvakhid Nematov turned the ball into his own net under pressure, compounding Uzbekistan’s difficult evening.
Despite efforts to regroup, Uzbekistan were unable to break Portugal’s defensive structure or create clear chances. Late substitutions, including Igor Sergeev and Sherzod Esanov, did little to change the flow of the match.
The scoring was completed in the 87th minute when Rafael Leão added the fifth goal with a composed finish, sealing a comprehensive 5–0 victory for Portugal.
The result strengthens Portugal’s position in Group K, while the spotlight remains firmly on Cristiano Ronaldo, whose historic achievement adds another milestone to an already legendary World Cup career.
