Young African FC Blames Security Failures for Chaotic Match in Okahandja

Young African FC has expressed strong concern over serious safety lapses during their weekend match against Okahandja United FC, saying the game descended into chaos due to poor security and tensions between the two technical teams.
The club reported that the incident began early in the second half when Young African’s technical staff questioned the treatment of an injured player, pointing out the absence of medical personnel. While the issue was being raised with the fourth official, members of the Okahandja United technical bench allegedly intervened, triggering a confrontation between both benches.
Young African says this dispute quickly escalated because of inadequate security at the stadium. With no proper fencing and only a few security personnel present, the altercation spilled onto the field and eventually drew in supporters.
According to the club, this is the third time matches between the two sides have been marred by similar clashes involving the technical teams. They stressed that the recurring tension has nothing to do with match officials but stems from unresolved hostility between the benches of both clubs.
Young African also highlighted that their head coach, despite being under suspension, attempted to calm the situation but instead faced insults. They claim he raised concerns about additional issues, including a shortage of ball boys and poor match organisation.
The referee ultimately abandoned the match, citing safety concerns. Young African said the events were captured on live television and cautioned the public against relying on misleading social media reports.
The club concluded by shifting its focus to upcoming fixtures this weekend, while urging stakeholders to seek clarity from official club channels rather than online speculation.
